I couldn't help but snicker when they said snub brake till you achieve the desired speed (is that before or after you burn your brakes up because it's already going to fast down the grade? don't answer that, just dry sarcasm.)

Thanks for the video. Just as I suspected.

Maybe I missed it, but what kind of engine is in the truck? It makes no difference what brand of TRUCK it is it's the engine and transmission manufacturer, along with the rear end ratio determines how the Jake's work.

I'm checking with Freightliner right now, but if I'm not mistaken, they exclusively use Detroit now.

Yes but the first generation Freightliner auto was called SmartShift. Like all auto cars and pickup trucks, you'd slip the little selector forward or away from you for Reverse and back or toward you for Drive.

Evidently some engineer at Freightliner who mows his lawn with an auto riding lawnmower and plays golf with an auto golf cart, both of which you push the lever forward to go forward and back to go back, thought it would be a brilliant idea to bring that tech to the world of 80,000 guided smart ground traversing torpedos lol

    Oh, piffle...
BTW, have I shown you our new uniforms yet? Quite comfortable in the driver's seat, just not sure about the color... 20170426_134344.png

Is this a company truck or is it yours?
If it's a company truck it has a company profile on the ecm which will include shift points they want. Good luck getting that changed. If it's your truck then you can modify the shift points and how aggressive you want the engine brake to operate.

Their is a Descent Mode on the Detroit transmission. It will hold the the truck at the speed you set it at.

    Tosses coffee across the room.

    Cowardly engineers.

If you cannot jake at the red line which sometimes works out that way compared to shifting up and finding yourself with super lugger incorperated and not enough jake to hold er.

Manual should be just that. Manual mode stays in the gear you picked. Otherwise it's joke. A pile of BS blowing smoke up fleet purchasing officer's butt.
