My experience going into canada is different than most, i guess. I am a young guy so i always get stopped. Im talking truck searches, background checks, a million questions, the whole nine yards.

    Every...single...time...

It was actually easier getting back in the usa, than going into canada.

I stopped going to canada last month. You can make the same money in the lower 48, and dont have to deal with cops who have an ego, and itching to write a ticket.

I haven't crossed since 2003. Apparently, some things never change.

There was certain staff people who were REALLY friendly, almost family up there.

It's a little too friendly me thinks for total strangers. But, no harm no foul I guess.. Im just not used to that level of emotion up there or anywhere. Believe it or not, I miss the food.

    I haven't crossed since '96 and things haven't changed. ;)
My dedicated run comes out of Canada, but our Canadian drivers bring it down to me in Chicago.

i have been going to canada almost daily for the last few weeks, first time up i got the whole truck search background check ect, i don't know how far back it goes but i know they can see your recent border crossings, so i get little to no greif now, one time a different crossing and some one i had not seen yet asked me when my last time i was in canada, i answered yesterday, he asked what port i crossed at and i confused the my last border crossing and my last one before that. he knew i gave him false information. and quizzed me more on it, till i realized i gave him the wrong info. some of the ports i cross at more often they are starting to get to know me and its about as casual as getting fuel at the gas station. have had issues coming back a couple time mostly related to the customs brokers entering information incorrectly.

I just went to Ontario this week. I had no problems at the border either direction. I went during off hours so no waiting either.

Last year was the only other time I went up, and that was with a flatbed into Alberta. As mentioned, speed limits are higher in the west.

It's not something I want to do very often, but if it gets me a 2500 mile load like it did this time, then heck yeah I'll go.

I've been away for a while too but the PAARS system started a revolution. You added a barcode to the shipping papers and took a photo copy and faxed is to the broker before leaving the shipper and simply handed the barcoded papers to customs, waited for the beep and the "enjoy your time in Canada" as he handed the papers back....

This has been revised and up dated since, we had to call the broker to check and now they all have web sites...

Yep, that's exactly how it worked for me last week. Easy.
