2009 Volvo 670 cummins

My 2007 Volvo with Volvo D12 just crapped out this week with 805,000 miles. I had the truck two years and put over $30 k in repairs. The motor itself was fine, but everything else-EGR, EGR cooler, turbo, engine brake, water pump, starter, alternator, cooling system, air dryer, and air compressor have failed. From what I understand both from Volvo and Technical Maintenance Counsel (TMC) the 2007 to 2010 engine model years were the worst for all makes. I hope you have continued success with your 07 Cummins.

I will be picking up my 2014 Volvo 780 with D13 XE I Drive tomorrow (4/23). I should go from 6 mpg to 8 mpg, and less maintenance cost (at least for the first five years). Volvo has been using DEF engines in Europe for over 20 years with few issues. If you can, buy a 2011 or newer or 2004 or older.

Im currently leasing a 2013 Volvo 670 with a cummins ISX 15 400 hp. Dont let that low number fool you. She gets up the hills just fine. Since i get 1550 ft-lbs of torque at 1000 rpm and up. Its a very strong motor. Just hit 450,000 miles. I love this truck

I have one like that. But it is 400hp with Cummings ISX, 13 speed too. No major issues ,except of course the anticipated DPF maintenance that you have to make sure to address from the very get go, or else a severe frustration will follow. The truck was reprogrammed to be 450 hp, but I've been easy on the boost, so the scanguage is handy in that respect. The fuel mileage is horrible 6 - 6.5 mpg and I drive it at about 65mph. The fuel mileage is horrible, no matter how good your driving habits are.

 

what do you guys think Volvo engine is good or not ?

 

Ive noticed too with mine which is a 10 speed even at 65 it seems like mpgs should be better. Tho with lite loads im still getting 8 mpg. 6 to 6.5 mpg with moderately heavy loads. I'm still happy
