People aren't worried about not being able to run 90 hours weeks, they are worried about not being able to split the 10 hour break to their own liking. On paper you might be able to pull over to that on ramp on a lonely stretch of desert highway for 3 hours but make it look like driving then carry that sleeper time forward to use for your 10 hour break later. The 14 hour clock doesn't allow for that.

Hauling frac sand, we run odd hours for sure. Some of these loads are real short but we make circles till the job is done. So let's say I load and it's a 30 mile haul. I get to location and they're pumping slooooowww......
So I wait. 5-6 hours later they've burned through enough sand that I can unload. Takes 30 minutes, then 30 min back to sand plant, 30 min to load another, then 30 min back to location. Sit another 5-6 hours and unload and repeat. So basically I'm working a couple of hours out of every 8, the rest of the time I'm in the sleeper. Resting 16-18 hours out of every 24, so I'm far better rested than most drivers on the road. But yet it can't be logged legally on an Elog.

Yes, it's an hours of service problem. I get that. But it still works on paper.

What's the answer? Bring even more trucks out to location to take up space and sit around even more?

Seems like there's about to be a bunch of "new" trucks hitting the used lots due to drivers bringing back the older models to avoid the disaster this elog garbage is about to cause.

There are some things you need to be aware of. Every status change has a GPS location attached to it. You can't edit that.
Any elogs that I've used, when you edit a status, It leave a record of it being edited.
The Elogs coming down the pipeline are going to be monitoring the engine itself with devices that attatch to the data port next to the steering wheel and these communicate with elog and you can't edit that information. Rand McNally has a device for sale at most truckstops. It's a tablet with that plug in thing. It would be interesting to see someone preemptively buy it and use it

Well, this could be a start, all ELD'S have to be hard wired to the truck. If this helps.

Why does everyone always think it's about working more due to low wages? I get paid very well. Just because you get paid well doesn't mean you don't want to make even more.

It's like people hating athletes for holding out to get better contracts even though they already get paid a lot. Every single one of us would tell our boss we're not doing crap for a couple months if we knew we'd get a large amount of money by doing it. Everyone wants more.
