I would think that since it takes a certain amount of time to unwind and get to sleep and a certain amount of time to wake up properly to get rolling - splitting that actual sleep time in two periods seriously reduces the actual sleep for the 10 hour period.
I think it will create much more fatigued drivers if they do it consistently.tinawngr Thanks this. -
honestly i am just fine with 8 hours down time, a good 6 hours of sleep and im good to go for the day. i don't seep much more that that most the time anyway. the thing is if your only going to shut down for 8 hours you don't want to be farting around the truck stop all night. do what you need to do and get to bed. but no i wouldn't want to use it every day day in day out. but its a good option to have.

By the time I park and unwind a little and maybe an evening snack that's at least an hour. I always get my 8 of sleep. Then coffee and the three s' s when I get up equal at least 11hrs. Same way when we were 8/10/15.
I don't know why we need a pilot program that's pretty much how it got split before except the minimum was 2hrs.tinawngr Thanks this. -
I just wish they would change it up so we could split our off time the way we like. 5 and 5, 4 and 6 and 3 and 7 would be so much better and for trip planning as well. Imagine those times shippers hold you up but won't let you stay for the full ten or even 8 hours, but if they took 4 or 6 hours to get you (un)loaded that could count as part of your split and increase efficiency.Last edited: Jun 6, 2017

No study needed. Let drivers split sleeper 2 hour increments. I know when I'm tired and a nap works, for me.
Plus I would like the ability to stop or extend the 14.
