I got mine in Utah. Endorsements the same time as the permit. Then when I transferred it back to Ohio I had to take all the written tests over again. That was in 2013. Then I moved to illlinois for 3 years and had to redo everything there. Pre trip. Written. Backing. Driving. Just like a new cdl. Then I came back to Ohio last year and didn't have to take any of the written tests again. Maybe something changed in those 3 years.
I for the life of me can't figure out when my hazmat expires though. When I moved to Illinois they wouldn't transfer the background check from Ohio so I did a new one. So when I moved back to Ohio. I don't know if Ohio took theirs or Illinois. Phone call to tsa and they told me they don't know. BMW would know. Called local branch. They told me to call tsa. Told them I did. They told me to call big office in Cbus. Can't get anyone to answer the phone there though. Guess I'll wait till I see a letter in the mail.

Well, since this is the rant thread:
An athletic director at a school DID NOT want to touch boxes of athletic equipment that i was delivering.
Let me repeat that: An athletic director at a school DID NOT want to touch boxes of athletic equipment that i was delivering.
That's like Quagmire on Family guy not wanting to have sex with a woman.......
Why is EVERYONE afraid to touch boxes? What is wrong with society? Have we gone mad?
Yes, terrorism, healthcare, illegal immigration are important concerns, but i think one of the most basic things we need to work on is overcoming the apparent fear of boxes in society.
i also think it's ironic that the one group Pres Trump wants to keep out, by building a wall, is the one group who ISN'T afraid to touch boxes.......Gearjammin' Penguin, misterG, G13Tomcat and 3 others Thank this. -
I had endorsements on mine. You can't get HAZMAT they won't let you have that until you get the real license, and the passenger bus endorsement has some string attached, but as far as doubles and non-HAZMAT tank you can get them just have to take the written tests when you take your CDL Permit test.G13Tomcat Thanks this.

The answer to this... is in the Driving gloves ?
thread. It's an 0'ten thread somebody revived.
Mike2633 Thanks this. -
See? I thought so also. I get the Haz and the TWIC ####... but the others? It's confusing, at best. Trust me; i'm not into passengers, of any kind... especially bugs this time of year, LoL.

When they actually issue the permit ID card the endorsments will be on the back same as your regular license. If you take the HAZMAT test and pass they have that recorded and when you go to get your regular license it just rolls over and you pay the money and get the XPT endorsement. I actually let my HAZMAT lapse I don't have it right now at this moment. I didn't feel like taking the test again. If I had to have it I could get it, but it's not needed right now.

Yeah, I ALMOST let my HAZ lapse... got a letter a MONTH before licensure was due...or maybe six weeks in (?) and... you have to recert literally a MONTH BEFORE. I chased my tail by a DAY on that one last year, and haven't used it since.
Thanks for the info, man.
@F150Jim ... @orcen .... whew.

This whole hazmat finger print thing has got to be the biggest government backed scam ever.
I had to drive a 350 mile round trip to get mine renewed. Then fork over $90 to get my prints taken. On my initial print, I told them I was active duty and had a secret clearance.
"Haha, nice try, we don't recognize those. That'll be $60. We accept all major credit cards".
What pisses me off is Reddaway REQUIRES all drivers to have the hazmat endorsement as a condition of employment. But they will not reimburse the travel costs nor the cost of the prints. They told me I was allowed to take a sick day, and that was it.Last edited: Jun 6, 2017
