Um basically anything over 35,000 scale the load. Your company should reimburse a scale ticket. Or paid the 10.50 for a scale ticket or a few thousands on overweight fine
CrappieJunkie Thanks this. -
I never scale my trailer as my avg GVW is around 50-55,000.

The only one getting a ticket is you. Your DM will NOT pay it and will deny he ever told you not to scale it. So cover your butt no one else will.Bean Jr., Steelhauler1246 and driverdriver Thank this.

ive asked drivers at my company. and no one scales unless dm saya to. idk weird. just nervous lately

It is your license and record, protect it! Does your truck have a suspension gauge? Either way trust your best judgement.

at my location, we run 53's, and one 48.
our loads are usually always under 20,000. even IF we are loaded to the gills.!
but i did scale once and only once when i had (then) 24,000 pounds.
i just wanted to get an overall weight with full fuel tanks and my personal stuff. it was also my money, i never sent it in for reimbursement. i gave that scale ticket to a friends son who was going to trucking school at the time, for sorta like a "show and tell", since no one knew what a CAT Scale was and why you scale out.
that was like (nearly) 6 years ago.
funny too, the son said he wanted to buy me a coffee, but he bought me a lunch instead!
at the hot dog cart.!!
best dogs i ever had.
one place i worked at when i first started out, DEMANDED that we scale every load, no matter what.
it was a rule i think to make sure all thier drivers KNEW when to really scale, and when to "roll with it".Last edited: Jun 16, 2017

Hes telling you that because they know as long as not over gross, they can bill the customer for the overweight.
Doesnt care about how it looks on your CDL -
Ask your DM to put it in writing or send via the qualcomm, with his signature or someone from Safety signature on what the policy and procedures are for weighing equipment. That should pretty much put to bed the whole issue.
