Finally, a topic I can help out with!

I work for 4Refuel Canada. We are a "wheel-to-wheel" customer service company. We use single, double and tri-axle straight trucks to haul diesel to our customers. We deliver to fleet, construction, marine, rail, etc. All weather conditions (luckily for you Texas guys that doesn't mean much cold weather!). You'll go through an orientation which includes training for your TDG, WHMIS, fire, safety, defensive driving, etc. You'll likely do a day or two of in-class training and about two or three weeks of in-truck training with an experienced driver.

Pulling the hose isn't as hard as you'd think, even in sloppy conditions. It's all about how you set up your truck and learn to be efficient (filling as many pieces with one pull of the hose). Just keep a firm grip on the scully nozzle, learn to listen to the sound of the air pushing out of the tanks once they're almost full and always have a spill pad in your back pocket in case you get a few dribbles on a customers shiny chrome tanks.

You'll learn TPC systems, MDS sheets, fuel reconciliation sheets. 70% of our business comes from overnight work, our typical shift in this BTU is 4pm-2am. It's a pretty cool job with not a lot of supervision. If you have any questions feel free to ask!

Interviewed for a job like that and it seemed like the place had a casual attitude about many open vats of chemicals or fertilizers. I wasn't even sure how safe that stuff was to be exposed to. I got a weird impression that the owner wasn't all there mentally and wondered how long he'd worked that that stuff lol.

Wound up back to just pulling vans.

Yeah, I remember talking to the guy who filled the tanks. We had something like a 3% solution in the tanks. He told that he worked for a crop duster and quit one day when he was loading a tank on the plane. He was pouring powder insecticide into the tank. A big hornet flew over the opening and dropped dead after flying another foot, boom!

The tell for the old guys who had gotten too much was the shaky hands from too much exposure.

Old thread but I just came across this. Did you take the job? I do this work now. Did it before in California but it was mostly farm tanks. Did fuel transport to stations and other tanker work as well. Took the fleet fueling gig mainly for the exercise. My body was turning to #### doing the long tank runs but we needed the money, who knows what the future will hold.

@Roberts450 i didn’t know you were at SC, right on. I deliver to the cardlock next to your yard sometimes. If you ever see a young dude in a KW W900 unloading, that’s me.

    DON'T YOU ROLL THAT THING.

Do you zap each truck with a bar code reader or just punch in each truck's number?

Just want to clear up something in this thread. To the best of my knowledge a tanker endorsement becomes an X once you get a hazmat. They are not seperate. This can be confusing.

Yup and you only have to pay the fee for the X so it’s kinda like a buy one get one free

I’ve got a scanner that scans a barcode if I’m doing a fleet fuel stop. Other than that I can input a tank on a farm in the computer and if I’m delivering to a station I’ll just get the veeder root and drop er on in.
