So now I'm "stupid"? LOL
You are the one who uses the terms like "shady", illegal" and such to describe these contracts. I'm still waiting for you or anyone else here to post a lease purchase agreement (from any company) so all the folks you're warning here can see what a "shady, illegal" contract looks like. You've said you have seen at least 20 of these contracts from other drivers.
I've tried to convey here over and over, that I signed a LP agreement, walked away from it with no problems. In fact, I benefited immensely from the experience, even my CPA said so.
I've also said that all contracts, for the most part, are in the house's favor. Why wouldn't they be? Lenders are in the business to make money.
Other than that, you keep up your copy & pasting campaign here on TTR. I'm sure you've saved a lot of monkey's from doing what monkey's do.![]()

LP carriers are not "lenders."
Unless you get the truck with a title (lien holder or not) you own NOTHING!!
Lp LP? You have the rights to nothing. The truck is not yours. You have no say. The run the show and let you pretend that you actually have a say. You are a company driver. Company will decide if they want to let you have the truck or not. This way you can go out and tell the world how great LPs are so hundreds of other suckers will try their luck at the LP lotto. The illusion of control is what they indoctrinate the drivers with. Its that simple.
But it is true.....monkeys will always be monkeys.
I should just leave them to their own peril......................................... -
Scooter, just curious for a little more detail on the agreement you had set up with your previous LP deal.
I'm going a very similar route as you did, with this company I've been with. I also know the owner and he is willing to help finance my first truck. He has 11 other O/Os that he pays 90% to them and charges a 10% dispatch fee. Which is what he would do for me, I would be assuming all other startup and financial expenses involved (incl. trl).
Just want to get your feedback on this system and maybe some details on what you had setup?
Thank you! -
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I LOVE being in control of my home time. Where I currently work, I can easily go home 7 days at a time without having to EARN IT. I can also TURN DOWN LOADS. That's a HUGE plus. I also never get questioned when I want to take a couple of days off on the road. My wages haven't been any better than being a company driver, but I love these freedoms. I've been where I'm at for 2.5 years and I've gone through a ton of maintenance headaches, but my cash flow has remained positive, and I'm definitely not starving. It's all about what you want out of the job. I happen to LOVE trucking, and I LIKE a decent wage.
All of you lease naysayers need to ask yourself some questions: Do you think every person that leases is a moron? Do you ever stop and wonder why your opinion is more important than a person who has actually leased and successfully paid off their truck, then went on to make REALLY good money with a paid off truck? It happens MORE OFTEN than you think. If MOST leases were the horror stories the naysayers make them out to be, wouldn't more current lease operators be screaming bloody murder all over these boards? It seems to me we hear more from people on the sidelines making assumptions, while a ton of us who are ACTUALLY LEASING, just try and communicate the best way to minimize operating costs, and get the best out of our experiences.Highway_Executive and scottied67 Thank this. -
