You're not going to run 2,600 miles a week at $2.31. You'll be sitting forever waiting for that rate all the time. I'm assuming you don't have your authority yet since you don't have insurance. Do you have a radius restriction with Progressive and if so, how far and where do you live?

Insurance is also based on other factors. Age, married, own house, driving record, education and credit score.

Things sure have changed. I started out in 2006 and paid $5,800 for the same coverage.

They sure have changed, it is pretty simple to understand why. Just look around at what is out here now. More beat up, bent up POS trucks than ever. Insurance companies have taken a beating on new entrants lately.

I agree, one reason why there should be a means testing for new authorities, and a few years under their belt driving before they consider being on their own. It isn't amazing to see premiums above $20k now, there are too many issues with the idea of making big bucks by having your own authority and too many times these newbies need to take sub-standard rates to make their ends meet.

No radius restrictions, i do have contacts with brokerages from when i was brokering with ny uncles broker business. Some loads i can get can be 3.50/mi and some may be 1.8 but in the end 2.30 is about the low side of the average. Load boards are awful and truckers are killing the i dustry by taking 1.20 a mile when brokers are making 4/5/6 off that for doing nothing. I know because ive been on the other side. I have some co.tacts with shippers that im working on.

That's crazy. I received a Progressive quote a month ago same coverage but for 2016 Peterbilt valued at $150K and 2014 Great Dane Reefer valued at $45K. Quote was $18,642 if paid monthly than $15,885 paid in full. No radius restriction.

First time CDL holder and new carrier. Clean record with no existing policies with them.
