Sorry for your loss, family is always #1.
Company I work for would fire you for logging off. They should edit your log showing off duty driving. You're bobtailing and that allows you to log that time as such.

@Rollin and Trollin Sorry about your loss and then the company nonsense thrown in.

To whom it applies: get educated by reading AND understanding the regs on personal conyeance.

I'm new... still in school.... but the first thing I was taught was ONLY I could fill out my Log sheet. Can they really FIX a log?

I thought the whole ELog stuff was so that you couldn't cheat and stay within the rules. If companies can change my logs what's to stop all the fudging of logs? I guess I have a LOT to learn.

I'm sorry about your family emergency.
It's probably a smaller violation to over-drive your 70 then logout and drive, especially if we are talking about minutes over your 70 and not hours.

Let the company worry about that. When they change anything it will clearly show they changed it.

Most elogs you cant edit your driving time, just on duty, sleeper, etc. When company edits it, they'll put in explanation why you went over driving time, ie stuck in traffic, no place to park, etc.

    Lepton1 and 48Packard Thank this.

True. With my current Rand McNally e-logs and I believe the Qualcomm system I worked with previously, you can edit everything except drive time UNTIL you approve your logs. After you approve them only safety can change them. The whole point of e-logs is to automatically track drive time, the system is plugged into your truck ECM and will automatically record drive time. You CAN add a comment on the drive time like, "Adverse conditions" if you go over your clock.
