The cows aren't tied up though. They can move around freely. Now, if it is a feedlot, then yes they have a ton of cows jammed together. But if you drive by Harris Ranch in southern California, they have shade pavilions for the cows every so often.

I hardly ever post here, but lurk & read often. Seeing Scottie's videos and knowing how he runs out California so often, when I first read the OP's post a few days ago, I said to myself, "Sounds like a mission for ScottieD." And sure enough, he was already on it. Good job longbedGTs for being concerned and ScottieD for checking on the dog!

 

Scottie still sounds like Carl Spackler to me.
