I was speaking with a Recruiter and there was never a mention of per diem for company drivers. I happen to speak to a company driver today and he said it was forced per diem and there was no opt out. Funny thing is, he could not tell me if there was a fee for it or not, and what the fee was, nor could he tell me how much of the cpm was per diem. Anyone a company driver that can enlighten me? Odd it is not mentioned on the website, or by any Recruiters. Maybe the driver was wrong?

EDIT: This is for Prime, and the reason it is under the Prime section. Some seem to be confused about which company. I hope this clarifies it.

Yup. I read it left to right top to bottom. Right to left bottom to top. Even turned my phone off and on again. The name is not there.

But then again..... it is in a Prime subforum....

I posted it under the Prime section, not Swift, nor Schneider, not CRE. I will add it for you.

No worries, I should have included it, I forget when you are looking at new threads it is helpful if the name is in there, or you have to remind yourself to look at the top for the forum/subforum.

As I look at my old statements from when I was company, there was no fee like you see other carriers charge for per-diem. The rate a couple of years ago was 10cpm. I don't believe it has changed at all since then, but hopefully a current company driver will chime in.

As for putting something out on that website or the recruiter saying something about, what difference does it make? You're not being charged anything for it.

Per diem is just a way for a company to lower its tax liability. It cheats the driver in the end. That's the big deal.

It makes a difference with Social Security, it lowers their contribution and your benefit, it lowers their disability insurance premiums and my benefit should I need it, it lowers gross pay so when I apply for a loan the gross used is .10 cpm less than I am actually earning, and unemployment, it lowers their UI Insurance payment and what I would make should I need unemployment. I have enough deductions between mortgage interest, health insurance, property taxes, my road expenses, and a number of others that lower my tax liabilities, I can adjust the deduction. The only one who benefits from it is the company.
