I've got 7 years experience, and a clean record. I'm doing food service delivery now, and getting paid a great salary of $1,350/wk. However, I'd like to do something a little less physically demanding as well as get out of the toxic environment that has become my local terminal. I have all of my endorsements, and was hoping to move into a new niche market like yanking a tank or something with taking as little a pay cut as possible. I just applied to Liquid Transport Corp. owned by Dana. They're saying I can make $1,500/wk. Can anyone vouch for this, or recommend some other good possibilities too? Thanks in advance!

Most decent tanker outfits you can take home over a thousand a week.
erankins84 and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
I'd say hazmat/tanker combo or oversized would be a great leap in the opposite direction. Driving the truck and unloading it too is for the birds.

Line haul is easy money; mostly terminal to terminal/drop & hook.
Old Dominion
Estes Express
Saia
R&L Carriers
several others.
Where is your location?

I'm in the Toledo, OH area. I've looked at line haul a bit. Saia is hiring right now with excellent pay! However, the two things that I'm struggling with doing the line haul thing is:
1. Most of them are Monday night through Saturday morning. I get my youngest every other weekend, and the ex wife is not very accommodating when I need to change things. She won't even let my wife pick my daughter up. Unfortunately I might have to eventually take her back to court to take care of it.
2. I'm trying to get away from driving 100% at night like am now. I'd like to work during the day once in a while. -
LTL p+d (daytime only work) can eventually pay more than $1350 gross per week. i may get around to posting my latest check.
Also, HOT TIP:
FedEx freight may be going on a hiring spree soon. (we lost a large account)erankins84 Thanks this. -
Where are you located? I currently do food service but i don't touch cases, just shuttle. I'm hourly and I gross 1450 a week. Hoping to throw cases soon, those guys gross anywhere from 1600 to 1800 a week

I haul fuel and they make me unload every load! The absolute horror of opening the belly valve is too much sometimes for me! I'm joking, but I don't see how these older guys do it in foodserviceTaterWagon#62 Thanks this.

Are there any concerns when hauling gas or liquid nitrogen any or any hazmat things like that? Or you guys just don't think about it much?
