So I know you need 9000 miles with a trainer if hired right out of school, but is this 9000 miles ran as a team? Or is it the student/new driver driving while the trainer is awake and riding in the passenger seat?
I really do not want to run as a team during training at any company.

Wait, you are saying that when you first go out with a trainer at USA Truck, as a student with no experience, that you have to get 9,000 miles in before you can go solo??
-
Yes. I was told that I'd run 7,500 (EDITED: originally though it was 9000) miles with a trainer upon hire. I went to CDL school and received my class A a few months back, but have no experience.
This seems about middle of the pack as far as training is concerned, where some companies will send you out solo after a two week training period (Watkins Shepard) and others will want you to team for 12 weeks before upgrading to solo (cough cough US Xpress
)
Not sure if USA Truck training period is dispatched as a team or if the trainer sits next to the new driver.Last edited: Sep 14, 2017
Reason for edit: changed mileage -
Right seat only now. We used to start off as solo for 2 weeks then go team but it's only right seat now
WannaGoTrucks2016 Thanks this. -
Do your miles solo with trainer as a passenger. Maybe a month if you have a good dispatcher.
