Your trip is starting to sound like mine to Chilliwack BC. Spent all day at a border crossing just to go to a hotel to stay the weekend there. Spent all day monday in a mall parking lot reading a book waiting on a call. Left the truck in a specified secure parking lot monday night three days late on the american side. I did not deliver the truck to where it was suppose to go. I flew home on the tuesday. All in all it wasted 3 days of my time. They were the ones that told me I had all my paperwork ready, I went there just for them to tell me that they never heard anything about me or my cargo.

ps. do not get mad at a border gaurd, they will keep you there longer.

Going into Canada: Windsor will turn you around, they haven't done any manual clearing there for months. Ft Erie and Sarnia will still manually clear.

Going into the State: As long as your ACE is accepted you can cross, they will park you and let you go into the broker. I do it to Livingston all the time, they can't ignore me while Im in the office. But you have to have the ACE manifest accepted or proof that it was sent to customs, or you will get turned around.
