Best thing then is too use common sense and the available resources to find available parking for breaks and the like. Rest areas, truck stops and parking areas seem to be the best options. I've also seen alot of hotels with trucks parked in the parking lot

My last 2 companies based it on time. Either 1 hr or two 30 min periods of time. It was not based on miles.
You also could not advance your position. Which means round trip. One company would only let you BT (no trl)The other you could have a mty. For a longer trip I would use Lyft or Uber.

He knows that company policy doesn't let you use line 5 pc driving. Its not a matter of does it exist or not just a simple company policy against it

I think On Duty would suffice in a "yard move" like this. but in reality the AOBRR doesn't trip over to either on duty or driving, many of us log it off duty or sleeper, well at least til 2019.

If your company will allow personal use of the tractor but does not have the off duty driving option on their elogs then you just change the driver status to "inactive". The elog will not record driving if you are logged in but inactive.

I would get proper permission from your company before doing this though and of course the usual rules regarding being unloaded etc still apply.

Ah well. If anyone asked, I was going to the store and experienced an issue I was trying to fix.

No idea with whether or not they allow personal use. Only thing I know is that they don't allow line 5 pc driving according to company policy

You are driving around the lot as a function of your job though, i.e. looking for a trailer. Of course you could try to convince us that looking for random trailers is your hobby and you are not looking for a specific trailer for a load, but no-one is falling for it. ;)

Don't get me wrong though, I am not chastising you as I do the same thing, I just don't try to dress it up as something it isnt.:)

    ZVar and CrappieJunkie Thank this.
