The great pumpkin is approaching midnight and needs to feed the horses prior to the big cinderella date show. They have to raise money somehow. I think schnider realized that if 10,000 drivers made a hazmat morning check in call it's a gross loss of 250,000 charged to the business in form of payroll just for this morning with potentially another 250,000 dollars going out the door by dinner time. Half a million.
15 millions of dollars per month saved just in two check in calls not paid.
Am I on track? Or am I demonstrating once and for all time I know nothing about the Pumpkin. (Thank god....) -
It's only one call per hm load. Less than 10% of our loads are hm.
The big savings isn't in the check call pay but staffingx1Heavy Thanks this. -
Call it 1000 calls then I guess.
Im trying to paraphrase where there is money to be saved by disposing of the check call from the Ivory tower people...gentleroger Thanks this. -
I must object most strenuously and vigorously your characterization of SNI corporate leadership as being part of the Ivory Tower.
People from the Ivory Tower Society make well intentioned choices while being ignorant of the realities of the Real World.
Schneider is very aware of the realities of the world, and how stupid and shortsighted our decisions are. They just don't care.PoleCrusher, mxpx148, 91B20H8 and 4 others Thank this. -
I know, but i cant support your thoughts. But at the same time i can support them. So, why not be a ########?
LtlAnonymous Thanks this. -
I can appreciate that.x1Heavy and Blackshack46 Thank this.

I must tender the most tearful of apologies and wear sack cloth for the prescribed day of atonement...
There will always be a streak in me that is a little touchy towards the suits that high up in the tower....91B20H8 and gentleroger Thank this. -
The problem is that Hazmat is not properly compensated for in terms of the driver. Check calls are just another uncompensated duty for most drivers. In my experience except for a couple real hazardous classes nobody pays more for hauling hazardous material then common goods. Most companies want you to make extra calls if its a placarded load. If its not, then you verify paperwork and then treat load as any other. Frankly I can't understand why some companies even bother with the hassle of hazmat?

I'll bet the company gets paid more for Hazmat, just not the driver.
91B20H8, Home_on_wheels and drvrtech77 Thank this.
