ok so I tell the recruitin lady about what a great post is out here in cyberville and ask, how long et has been working as a recruiter?/ and how snack must be a real driver tryin to battle the propaganda! or is he trying to keep everybody else away so he gets all the great loads; she goes on line, see's that et writes better than hemmingway with a little bit of peter norton thrown in and then decides snack must be brought into compliance........ just kiddin! I definitly think i gotta go by some dubs and trips before the blue chippers (gm, ford, etc) quit capitulatin and whatever else that guy said... so i can make a lot of money until that 850 billion dollar buyout trickles over my way.....

Sorry I missed ya, I was there from 10am Saturday until 4am this morning. Didn't spend too much time in the terminal, but I was there for the first half of the cowboy game.

    DRIVE SAFE

I have a couple of extra cabinet shelves that I tote around from truck to truck. I set one of them on top of the nightstand behind the drivers seat and wrapped a couple of heavy duty bungees around it. Holds it in place, even as I'm bounced off the ceiling with my seat belt on driving on I-78 west bound. Holly Cow, what has happened to that road. I thought I was being launched into space.

I also got a little creative this weekend while camped out in the Kmart parking lot down the road from our New Kingstown term. Managed to build a nice little shelf that sits at the foot of my bed and I think I'll be moving it over there. Right next to my new 20" HD Flatscreen that I picked up. Need something to do with this downtime. Haven't had a TV in the truck for over a year. I'm pretty sure it's broken though, I can't find an episode of Mythbusters or Deadliest Catch on it, maybe I'll get a dish on my next layover.

I was expecting to get hung up in Philly this morning after my delivery, but was thrilled to get a load going to MN, except for the snow that is. Things got a little ugly driving into Youngstown tonight.

I've considered it in the past, but the health insurance issue was the real deciding factor.

I never looked to deeply into it though because I'm happy on the company side with reasonable priced heath insurance, vacation pay, etc. No headaches and at times like these when I find myself sitting around a little longer than I like it's much easier to worry about making a smaller paycheck this week than wondering if I'll be able to make a truck payment and all the other expenses that go with it.

New or Used? I personally would go with a new unit due to warranty issues, but being a company man has the same effect.

I enjoy driving, but have never really wanted to make that much of a commitment to it.

They don't pay recruiter enough to waist that much time.

They saved up a grand total of 1800 miles for me last week. None of my old tricks worked, I'm loosing my touch.

Sort of, it's an animal hospital and they keep trying to neuter him before they adopt him out and everyone wants a puppy anyway.

ET: You mentioned reasonably priced health insurance. Who is the carrier? Are you happy with the coverage? I have a wife and 21 year old dependent daughter that is in nursing school. Would you have an estimate as to what my premium might be for coverage of my whole family? Thanks!

Mooniac, The insurance is blue cross/blue shield of Nebraska. Cost depends on the plan you chose. I think I pay about 75.00 a wk to cover myself and my wife and kids. An unmarried child 23yrs of age who is a fulltime student at an accredited school or college and who is primarily dependent on the subscriber for support and maintenance is now eligible for health insurance.

Thanks Mars! Thats the same way my insurance currently is, however, on January 1st, my daughter only needs to be a dependent (IRS) and not have to be a student. I'm currently with Regence Blue Shield. Am wondering if that change is only a company thing or a national trend with insurance companies.

They gave me a choice too...Blue or grey...as in greyhound. I chose blue...To me, the color of the truck doesn't matter as long as the color of the money is still green(sorta green with new funky colors), and not silver .

ET Grasias on the placement ideas. Does your Carrier unit run a lot even when just the heater is on... my TK unit runs 80% of the time even when I don't have anything else but the fuel fired heater on. I didn't think the little fan it has used that much power. I also have a bit more underbunk storage than I thought I would... Coooooool (to quote Arnold)

Life is getting better....and I have been feeling a bit less grumpy lately. Maybe because I can sleep through the night again. Since they installed my new toy, I have woke up only once during the night(instead of a dozen or so times when the trucks engine started or stopped) and that was only because the 44 oz drink I had with supper decided it had overstayed it's welcome and decided it wanted out, immediately. I can hardly wait until I can get my microwave back in here. Do microwaves go bad from sitting?(like a/c units) I use to have one in my truck 6 or so years ago when I had owned my own truck, but it's been sitting on a shelf in my shed since I came back to the company side of things.

Me, not grumpy....what am I going to do with my time....... I know, I'll complain about not having anything to complain about.... Aaahhhhhhh, I feel better.:biggrin_25525:

And Travis' parents can't drop him at the hospital....He's may be just a young pup, but still too old for that unique NE law.

Hey, I am new to this. I will have my CDL, Lord-willing by Christmas. Did you create this spreadsheet through Excel or did you use a trucker software? Also, Crete is my first choice for employment.

    Any good advice?:biggrin_2551:
