You have driven before, so you should know better than to sign a contact for training. If at all possible, pay for any needed schooling yourself. What is your location??

I was out 2 1/2 years let CDl expire, I spent $400 to rent a truck that drove out to DMV so I could test, also had to do written and of course medical card. Lot cheaper then paying a school especially when all you need is a couple hours practice to pass. Although places like Schneider are going to push you through some sort or refresher. Heck I worked for a grain hauler didn't even drug test me, we drove around for half hour and I was hired. A company should be able to road test anyone in a half hour and decide if they are a good driver or not. But in my opinion trucking hasn't changed for the better, so if you left because it was bad, didn't pay well for hours worked and personal life suffered. Its not any better now. Except you have some dedicated that pay cheap but give you your home time. Its basically a trade off to do local. I also surrendered my CDL-A with all endorsements and would like some input on going back and renewing my CDL. I have done some research into Schneider and considered the tanker division or SE Reginal. I would want to be able to have a passenger and very limited handling of freight. Any ideas if Schneider would be a good match or am I fooling myself? Thanks to everyone.Click to expand...

I think Jescott418 made a good thought, if you got out before because things were not square with your life in some way doing this trucking thing I don't think there is any reason to consider those problems solved by now. In fact there might be new problems such as driver facing cameras etc. And engines casterated twice on the differences with cruise and foot settings to power. Small things like that. I already know I wont be dealing with that if I get back into it. (Not going to happen anyhow. The experience and knowledge is there, but the chassis is too far gone.)
