I was told about a job in CDL school. It is a switch seat job. With a partner. Working every other week. The partner is where I live. So change out every week would be right here at home. Been talking to recruiter, who seems very candid. But nobody has revealed who the partner is. I haven't been able to talk to that person.
Here's the catch I'm asking about here... I don't see anyway this works. They claim $65k a year. Many drivers making over $50k a year. Everybody is change out partners, every other week. But the pay by mileage doesn't add up? They're talking thirty cents a mile. Then fuel bonus of about ten cents a mile which most everybody gets. Then other bonuses. Could make 45 cents a mile.
Now based on mileage pay. Also max of 70 hours a week. I don't see how this job can come close to $50k a year.
They do seem to have good accounts. Working for Hormel. Runs to west coast from Minnesota.
In my wildest imagination. What are they doing? No wait time? Quick hook up and runs? Getting pay both directions. Back and forth. ????
I don't know? Is there anyway, that anybody can see that this works in making this kind of money?
I honestly thought they only way I was going to make over $50k a year was: Stay in the truck. Keep driving all the time. I know of a couple companies where I can make $0.50 a mile. .... But this one?
I want to avoid arguing with the recruiter. She doesn't seem to be the most sophisticated recruiter. Does seem honest. But gee... I'm hoping for input.
It would be nice to be home every other week. But gee... This seems too good to be true.
Can this work?

Just to put it a little more clearly.
This is working 26 weeks a year.
Fourty to maybe 45 cents a mile.
I just don't see making over $50k a year like this?Tb0n3 Thanks this. -
They do want me to sign a one year contract.
Training... I forget.... It's about two months maybe?
She said the contract is because too many have trained, then left. Didn't give it a chance. ??? -

Whats the name of company
-
Sounds more like 3 drivers...one is always off, two are running team. Double check it. That means two weeks out and 1 off.
-
It's definitely just two people. One on, one off. Driving alone.
It does seem much has to work out with the other team member. Make up for if that person wants time off. etc. etc.
But gee.... seems like a lot of time off... no matter what.
Company is Holiday Express Corp (HEC) . In Iowa. -
They want you to sign a 1 year contract where you "could make .45 a mile"
If it's is as good as they claim they have no need for contracts. And what is this business for a contract between an employer and employee anyway? Whatever happened to you can quit at a moment's notice?59nang, SingingWolf and Toomanybikes Thank this.
