Headed south today on I-15 in slow California traffic, I had a lady in an RV yell for my attention and said what I thought she said was my right side trailer tires was going bald. I looked back and thanked her. Pulled over when I could but everything looked fine. Was only 15 miles away from the TA so I kept going but kept my eyes glued to the tires.
Made it and looked again. Tires were still inflated (company has the auto inflation system) but both outside tires had rub marks all the way around on the sidewall.
I'd assume this is due to low inflation but the trailer wasn't pulling at all and the tires are still up.
I'll check in a bit to see if any air leaks out in the meantime.
Any other ideas?
I'm also maxed out on weight. Maybe that side of the trailer has a little more weight on it compared to the other side?
Trailer tires flat but are not?

May have heard a flat spot slapping or seen a tire rotation that looked off (wobbling)

Look for bulge on inside of tires.

Maybe she was just messin' with you.

Just walking back from getting food and that's what I thought too. Maybe it was a ruse and a driver before me ran the tires up against a curb. She was cute too lol

Does your auto inflation system not have a light on the front corner of the trailer behind the driver? All of ours do....
Also, park the trailer, set the tractor brakes and go listen for an air leak. Do you hear anything? If it leaking while moving, it's leaking while sitting still.Trucker61016, Tb0n3 and Hawkeye212 Thank this. -
It amazes me how few truckers carry a simple tire pressure gauge. Had you had one it would have been a simple answer right then and there once you pulled over...

The light didn't come on the corner. Forgot to mention that. And there was no air leak
And yes I do have a tire gauge. But with no leak and other issues, I figured the tires were still fineLast edited: Nov 25, 2017
