Hey, OP here.
Caught up on everything I missed over the weekend.
Believe me I know what I should have done. It's a lot easier to say it while sitting at your computer rather than in the heat of the moment. This was a "straw that broke the camel's back" situation.
I don't believe that the user Paul Bunyan is actually a K&B driver. There is not a single K&B driver that I spoke to during my time there that wasn't experiencing the same things I mentioned.
I did speak to a lawyer and he was very familiar with K&B. I'm not sure if I'll be pursuing legal action or not.
My stuff is in IL. Remember how K&B told me they would notify me when my stuff got to the yard? Yeah. They didn't do that. I hadn't heard from them by Wednesday, so I gave them a call. They said my stuff still hadn't arrived. I continued to press the issue. They said they didn't know where my stuff is and that it quite possibly got thrown out. Then they said they'd have to ask around and would call me back, which they did about a half-hour later.
K&B is claiming they had to do repairs to the truck's wheel studs and had the repair shop clean my stuff out of the truck while it was there. I spoke to the repair shop and the truck didn't get there until almost 5pm on the Monday after the incident. This means the truck was absolutely close enough still for me to simply drive there with my rental car and get my things. Of course they refused to tell me that.
This also means that K&B instructed them to clean my personal belongings out of the truck, and that they knew exactly where all my things were all along. They had no intention of telling me. They only did so after I called and questioned them. My things were not where they said they would be. Again, they did not keep their word.
**Now that I think about it, it almost seems like they were trying to give my things away...**
I will be driving from Detroit to retrieve my things.
I'll get a job because I'm actually a good driver. My DAC from every company I've worked with before has been outstanding. You can also issue a refutation to any negative statement on your DAC that will show up on your DAC.
I'm really happy for you drivers that don't have problems with your dispatch. I usually don't. I went with K&B because I needed the money and I thought it couldn't be that bad. Lesson learned.
Everybody is tough on the internet. Maybe some of you are tough in real life. But being tough doesn't mean putting up with abuse. And maybe there is a new generation that will be coming into trucking. I'm 29 so I'm not that young, but I do expect to be treated with respect. This isn't the 70's anymore and the world is changing. Maybe trucking will be the last holdout, but eventually people will demand to be treated fairly. I honestly don't care what you guys think of me. I know I'll be alright because I do what's right.
Thanks for reading.

I was really hard on you, but you obviously went off the deep end there. I've done much worse, but it was at a non-trucking job years ago. It is what it is. You're from Detroit, you should apply ay A.D. in Canton. No relays, mostly drop and hook, great pay. Respect and zero ########. Completely the opposite of KB.

Part 395
Question 5: Do telephone calls to or from the motor carrier that momentarily interrupt a driver’s rest period constitute a change of the driver’s duty status?
Guidance: Telephone calls of this type do not prevent the driver from obtaining adequate rest. Therefore, the FHWA does not consider these brief telephone calls to be a break in the driver’s off duty status.
The FMCSA does not care how many hours you work in a day. All they care about is that you get the mandated rest before driving agian.
Question 6: If a driver is required by a motor carrier to carry a pager/beeper to receive notification to contact the motor carrier for a duty assignment, how should this time be recorded?
Guidance: The time is to be recorded as off-duty.Last edited: Nov 27, 2017

Please learn the HOS, as a driver trainer I was required too. The 11/14 hour rule is intended to regulate when you can drive. If your 14hr clock is up you STILL can work, you just CAN'T drive till you have completed your mandated break.
The use of satellite communication is also allowed as long as the interruption is not repetitive enough to deny proper rest.Last edited: Nov 27, 2017
