Ok ... this is fiction because no one is that ... well ... to go into a hurricane to get a truck.
Right?
The clue not to go should have been the warnings to evacuate.
As far as the accident, or what is actually considered "an act of god" tell your company to stick that up thier ***.
This was not a vehicle that fell under dot rules and regulations and has ZERO to do with driving a truck.
What makes it even worst is that the truck is insured for this, that company has to be either a bunch of cheap dipwads or doesn't care about their drivers.
Sorry if I hurt feelings with my comments but hell can't anyone see how dangerous this is to do over a stupid peice of metal?

Did your company actually say that the flooded rental was non-preventable?
I ask because that's a good thing, but the way you wrote it, it seemed like you believe it was a bad thing.dibstr Thanks this. -
Like I said it's the perspective and context you decide to give and look at it from. Because it's a company as big as it is, there is usually lack of communication and they will do whatever they can to protect themselves. If it was a smaller company more then likely there wouldn't have been anything to put down on a person's personal report. With a large company tho there is no consensus.
Well I'm pretty sure that DM got fired right after. All the other DM's I spoke to after we're scratching there heads and we're mad themselves that I was sent there. I did agree to it for the reasons I said in my story. Nothing is ever as simple tho as it seems. And we have to take the good with the bad.
As far as fighting it, I am in the process of getting clarification and trying to get it removed. But i don't think there will be much I can do. Other best scenario is let other company's I might apply to work for figure out for themselves the irony of a rental car that was flooded in the situation that was for themselves.
Yes I will be qualified to get my safety ring for being a safe driver for the year and inquired about it and was told it was a non preventable for the rental car having flood damage.
It's better then having it a preventable but it would of been better if it wasn't there at all since I did everything I could have to avoided it happened g and gave the company chances to get me out. U fortunately things did not work themselves out as fast as was hoped.
Did you have a different thought on why it would be a good thing? -
No I did not. It would of been hard to either way. I did try to but it was kind of in limbo. The process I had to go thru and them not having all the answers only made it more difficult and stressfully on top of what I was dealing with at the time. I estimated I lost about $300 of belongings but I replaced them all already and it's long forgotten. Im just looking forward to what the days ahead bring.Farmerbob1 Thanks this.

That's pretty clean compared to the one I picked up as a favor for the friend of mine that was hauled off to jail at the Iowa scales. I'm not kidding. That truck was horrible! There were chicken bones scattered all over the floor and what I think was a half-eaten fish. An absolute pig sty. I never went any further than the driver's seat and decided to drive back to our yard that night. No way was I sleeping in that truck. From the sound of things, though, yours smelled worse.Farmerbob1 and G13Tomcat Thank this.

Call me hard headed in seeing this from the perspective that the company apparently does, which is that they suffered a loss and you were not responsible or at fault for that loss, and they said so. Would you be concerned if they put a safety award you received on DAC? Companies can and do put good things on DAC, not just bad.Farmerbob1 Thanks this.

So you/your company rented a car to get you there, and didn't pay an extra few bucks for the insurance?
How stupid is that, considering that you were going into a hurricane?Farmerbob1 and G13Tomcat Thank this. -
Only thing you can do is contact hire right explain it was a rental car and NOT a company vehicle and that you were not permitted to remove the vehicle from the path of the storm... Might work might not but also it's not something you need to worry about future companies may ASK about it tell the truth (or spin it about the recovery truck being broke down instead of to dirty to drive cause that may look bad to some companies yet I totally agree with you desire to not want to drive it) and they shouldn't bat an eye.

So my question is is this a good company to go to or not

Non-preventable should put zero blemish on your record. No charges. No reprimands. Nothing. If you could not have prevented it, they have no reason to bother you about it in any way.
