Some check points to look at:
    - try to manage your clock so you maximize your hours available after you deliver. I try to get within 10 miles the day before my delivery date. Then get a10 hour break. Then deliver 1 hour early. The more hours you have available after you deliver, the more loads you will be eligible for.
    - as soon as you know where you're going, that's when you should start asking about your next load. Don't wait until the day before delivery to ask.
    - if you are given options, then you get to choose! If not, take whatever you're given. Sometimes it means we get loads that are 700 miles and you have 4 days to do it. It sucks. But i get those too, and I still average over 11,500 miles a month. It's only a temporary set back.
    - a good guage for home time is 1 day off for every week out. The math just works out that way. I know this is not magnums policy, but the math works!
    - every time you end up in the coon rapids yard, assess your trucks maintenance needs. maybe you need nothing. Maybe you need a pm. Better to get it done ahead of time than later when you need miles but you have to take a later load to account for the time your truck is in the shop. Call Nick and let him know you need maintenance. He will work with you. I just did this today.

I don't know your experience, so please excuse me if this is elementary. Just throwing some stuff out there.

Just shut down for the day. I did 448 miles in 7.10 drive time. Not too shabby!! Early morning starts with no one on the road for the win!

It was my understanding that it made us eligible for more money on all loads as opposed to staying at the base rate?

Some of this I did know but I know you have no idea of my experience level.
I have been making a habit of checking in now and advising my availability and hours a day before delivery.
I have been hit with a whole string of exactly what you described - 700 mile runs with too much time on them and it really hurt my income.
Since the DM thing has come into effect, it seems to be improving so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

Yep what @ncmickey said. But only when it’s a hazmat load. Not on all loads across the board. So as others said, having your endorsement will help with being eligible for more loads, but it’s not really gonna significantly help your income. We don’t haul a whole lot of hazmat.

So when you get a hazmat load across the country it’s like Awwww yyeaaahhh! But then you may not get another hazmat load for a month or two.

In orientation, they said hazmat is a must and you have x amount of time to get it or they dock you. I have my hazmat and thought Mark covered hazmat really good. I wouldnt mind having some hazmat loads under my belt.

    Actually, im fully endorsed.

The way I understood it, you would not be reviewed for increased mileage pay based on performance if you did not have the endorsement.

And the way that I’ve understood it, is that if you don’t have your HM endorsement you are penalized .01 cpm on all miles. Say you’re running hard and your performance is at the top and no issues, you should make .50 cpm (with the HM endorsement) and if you didn’t have it, you’d be penalized and only make .49 cpm.

Not sure what to tell you other than what was presented to us in orientation. I’ll clarify by looking at what I was given in writing, but I clearly remember being told that I would not be able to get any increase in mileage pay after trimester reviews without HM. And yes, they did say it could go down as well.
