I was told the same thing when I went through orientation. No hazmat... no performance pay.

I think this only applies to new hires. Like it’s being phased in. I’ve heard quite a few drivers here don’t have it, but they’ve been with Magnum for a while.

    I didn’t know it was a new(ish) policy?
At any rate I’m waiting for the background check stuff to arrive in the mail, at which point I can do the test next time I get home.

Watford, no need to wait. When you go to the precheck and oay to get finger printed they give you a receipt. You can go take the test when you have this receipt. They just dont release your new license until the feds authorize you.

Thats what I did. Did the precheck on Thursday, took all my endorsements the following week on a Wednesday. That friday i got a letter saying my precheck was cleared ( they also send one to the state ) and the following week on friday i got my new license.

I got the ole "your appointment isn't until tomorrow" response when I checked in this morning.

So I had a little fun with it...

I just tell them I was dispatched here today, so I'll be charging detention based on that, and if you need me, I'll be out in the truck playing computer games and watching the meter run. Then I call dispatch.

Sometimes works and you get unloaded, sometimes you just get the satisfaction of watching the guard's face.

    But I do get paid.

So we are way ahead of schedule, sitting in joplin mo at petro getting a 34 reset in and decided to do some backing practice. All the spots are blind side 45 angled lots.

I cant do it to save my life. I can sight side a lot of backing situations, all but 45 angles, but the blind sides ive tried are all fails. I managed to get one at thats it. Im holding my turns to long.

Talk about frustrating! And im starting to get a blister on my palm from it. Other than that ive gone through the whole 4 weeks of training material in just over a week.

It'll come with practice. Every once in a while ill blind side just to get some practice in. So if it ever becomes my only option then its not intimidating.

    Really?
Not the way the process was described to me.
    Thanks.

Practice is the only way to learn. I always pick a blindside 45 degree spot when there’s nobody around to back into. Do that just 2 days ago in fact. In the real world I have only had to blindside a trailer into a space in a yard and into a dock once each.
Helpful hint on that - open the curtain on the passenger side sleeper window and lean your seat back just a little. You can see the end of the trailer when you are backing at a sharp angle.

To be fair the tandems were forward. We slid them back, not all the way, and now its happening. The only thing the intimidates me is truck spots where the backing is tight. The truck stop before this, seemed like everyone was having issues.

But thats how she goes when youre a rookie.
