If it were me, and you have the cash, pay the vig for the private school and don't look back. I bet you can get a steep discount paying cash.

I went to community college in 2004 and paid $600 for an 8 week course. I then got a job with Ashley Distribution, who has a terminal in Arcadia Wisconsin, and started out at 64k a year, and they re-imbursed my tuition. There are good companies that hire students, they just don’t necessarily readily advertise it.

You should be heading up or down to the oil fields... ;-)

Get your CDL and you are looking at maybe 6 figures to start. Just saying.

    Alaska may be even more.

    StewBear Thanks this.

Talk to Millis, I see your in WI.They are a training company and a good option to get your cdl.
From what I've read students get 42cpm (all miles) while your in the truck and being trained
I think theres a $500. up front cost, But the rest($2000.) can be paid off weekly

Stop relying on the lying recruiter. All they want is spaced out fresh meat starving to make a dollar.

Talk to drivers at the truckstop. Buy them some coffee or something, they will tell you what's what.

    StewBear and Justrucking2 Thank this.

Spot on, a $5000 - $7000 tuition, and in a literally a few years, with some initial up front investment for a truck, 6 figures is easy and very sustainable. Look at these kids coming out of college or universities, $40,000 to $100,000 + in debt and the best they can do is McDonalds or or a dead end $30,000 a year job with the government. Unless they are in say engineering, but even then they are looking at all of that student debt. If you have a mortgage right out of college, and do land a job paying $80,000 a year, really what have you accomplished?
