Okay here's the work around I was told to use by our company. (Until the graph issue is fixed)
Run an inspection on yourself (good to practice anyway since you'll need to know how to do it for DOT sooner or later)
Check if the events are THERE, there should be a list of events. If it contradicts what the graph says then yes it is an ELD malfunction. Believe it or not there's a spot on the DVIR for ELog malfunction.
So you report an ELD malfunction on your DVIR and write a paper log for the day using the events logged in your inspection screen.
The next day try running the ELD as normal. If it works, hold onto the paper log for (14?) days until the "violation" rolls off your calendar.

Run an "inspection" on yourself.
See if your events have been saved in that mode -
Good luck to you all.

Post 71 - please read..
we are testing a build that after a few weeks of some bumps might be a candidate.. -
As much as I wanted the RND EL-50 to work, the time has come to move on. Too many issues and absolutely no support.
mitmaks Thanks this. -
Based upon posts it may seem like the issue is widespread. It is not. It is a very small percentage that were affected. With so many models/makes of trucks and the same for electronic devices it was hard to test every scenario.
So, "no support" is not true.

I am sure you worked hard behind the scene as did Rand Mc Nally. That (work) didn't correct the issue in a timely fashion. No hard feelings Mark and i thank you for your efforts. We simply have more pressing issues than dealing with a device that only works "part-time".mitmaks Thanks this. -
It sounds like RM rushed a product to market that doesn't have enough real world testing done and it sounds like it doesn't work.
And let me tell you something about a warrantee. A fricken warrantee doesn't mean squat when a driver is sitting at some podunk scale shut down with an hours of service violation and a ticket for his violation because your product failed. The update coming out tomorrow doesn't mean squat either, when that driver is shut down today.
I need to get myself a new road atlas soon, because I have the feeling I won't be able to get one soon.
RM is soon to be out of business I believe. Due to GPS and google maps, nobody needs an atlas anymore, other than a back up. I used to get a new one every year. Im thinking the next one I buy, if I can find one, will last 10 years.
And they were late to the game in developing an electronic version of their atlas, if they even did. I haven't heard of one. But with google maps and GPS, well, it makes it redundant. Who would need it.
And now they have put out an inferior tool for tracking HOS.
What does RM do that anyone needs?
Right.
Your "don't take it apart, it voids the warranty" advice really stinks. Ive got a feeling with all the problems you guys have with your product, you might be facing a class action lawsuit at some point.easytopleez33 and mitmaks Thank this. -
If you wish not to sign it, no hard feelings, but Rand has given support. If your logs are off, call them with the days/status changes. They can fix the past 14 days. PC and YM they cannot adjust.
