A company like Swift, will lease a truck to a driver by contract then the lessee will sign a contract leasing the truck back onto to Swift's authority like anyone with equipment would lease onto Landstar's authority.

Takes a bit of cash to get started and being independent is a never ending paperwork duty but I’m sure you already have a printer/scanner in your truck your past being with LS. Gotta have enough cash in your account left over after getting insurance, tags and permits to buy fuel for a month that’s the average pay off time with most brokers unless you want quick pay.
