I"m about to graduate from driving school and was wondering if anyone has any info on USA Truck. If they're not a good co. to start with which ones are.

All the big "start up" companies hiring a driver right out of school sound pretty much the same, get some time under your belt with one of them and then look for your "good company" to move on too. I drove for USA for 2 years right out of school, did my time so to speak, I stayed humble or tried to... I knew that USA was just a stepping stone on the path where I was at in my life at that time. They were using me for cheap labor, but I was also using them to get miles under my belt, see how the industry works, see the country, and pay for my CDL school in return for my 1st year of service to them. I didn't yell or say I was going to quit every time something didn't work out my way, just bit my lip and kept putting 1 foot in front of the other until I chose to move on. I had a good Driver Manager, but he was the 3rd one and the 1st two weren't good at all. He alone was a huge part in me stay past my one year and get that 2nd year under my belt, now I drive for a regional company here in Michigan and make close to what I made there at USA every week , but I am home 2+ days a week, every week! came off home time yesterday night at 8pm hauled and empty trail 91 miles to get and load that took me 501 miles and the rest of my 14hr clock to deliver, I am now at the consignee, with 602 miles in one day of driving and a a preplanned trip when I come off my break going back from Saint Louis,MO to Dayton, OH for tonight plus I'll have something there in Dayton waiting for me (it is a drop and hook)

Thanks for the info. I was also looking at maverick. I've heard from several people that they are apretty good trucking co. either way, I hope I make a good decision. Once again thanks.

Just make sure they have freight for that flat bed. I would look at a company with vans or reefers. God, I never thought I would ever tell a guy that. But, sitting empty in a truck stop ain't going to pay the bills.

Does anyone know if ready trucking is still in business. I tried calling them and they said that the number was no longer in-service.
-
I would say they closed their doors. My buddy picked up his paycheck at the outfit he is leased on to up here in Michigan just yesterday. He called them this morning, and guess what, phones were disconnected.
Yea, I would say they are out of business.

Just a heads up Maverick is on a hiring freeze until at least after the first fo the year. My recruiter e-mailed me yeasterday to tell me.

There are a lot of companies doing that right now.
-
Yeah, the recruiter I talked to said the same thing. I have a couple of local prospects, but I don't know if they're even going to pan out.
