I can’t pass you, so you’ll make room

Happens to me all the time.
Riding along with the cruise on and you can reel em in steady as can be.
But, as soon as you hit that lane to pass... all of a sudden it's a drag race.

ALL DAY LONG.

Good thing I carry an Ace in the hole.

Sometimes I'll be heavy and climbing in the right lane and someone will overtake me at the top of a grade.
Do I speed up and drag race right beside them??
No. I ease off and let them go.

I try to practice what I preach.

When I DO pull out to pass one that's running 2 or 3 mph similar to me I wait til a decent break in traffic allows for a pass if it's gonna take a few secs.

I won't be the cause of a road rage left lane drag race back up.

 

Only the morons blame the truck in the right lane. The really really dense ones. However, the experienced individuals will put the blame on YOU...the left lane truck 100 percent and rightfully so IMO.

 

I was under the impression OP was referring to the immediate lane left of the granny lane not the hammer lane per se. If we're talking hammer lane than that's an entire nother ball of wax.

 

Then you slow down, get behind the other truck and stay there.

 

Who is to blame is irrelevant. Be professional, courteous, and use common sense. Do what needs to be done to keep traffic moving smoothly.

 

It's relevant to the conversation I was having with the OP. He mentions blame/responsibility. So, to me it is relevant. Context.

 

The driver being passed has ZERO responsibility to slow down for the passing vehicle. Especially if the driver being passed is going the speed limit already, why should they bow down and slow down from the speed limit to allow someone who wants to exceed the speed limit?

 

I understand. But what I am saying is that in the real world driving side-by-side for miles and focusing on who is to blame is the wrong approach. Be a professional and make sure traffic flow smoothly.

 

No. Read the og post. He was talking about 2 trucks governed at the same speed.
