Anyone know where I can buy those clear sight glass for hub caps? I broke old one on trailer when I was checking to see how much fluid is in there and pushed too hard on plug and broke it.
Bought whole new hub cap but is like to have a few of sight glass parts as a spare

Most Napa or truck/pro parts shops have them
Oxbow Thanks this. -
Would regular NAPA auto parts gave them?
-
Dont push on them when cold outside.
Just wipe off and look.Roger McG Thanks this. -
Can't wipe off when they're black from years of use. I guess it was good thing I've replaced it along with nasty black fluid in there.Oldironfan Thanks this.

Sounds like u screwed up once.

Not yet. I just don't bother with em unless I see oil on wheel. Lol.

You can buy the window kits for Stemco style hubcaps, but in my experience corrosion usually plays hell on getting the screws out that hold window in. I prefer the one piece CR/SKF hubcaps.

If you Napa carries heavy duty stuff it shouldn't be a problem to get rebuild kits, I can double check in my HD Catalog for Napa tomorrow. The Stemco ones come with a new plastic sight glass, gasket and I think a set of screws but don't quote me on that. In my experience about 1/2 to 3/4 of them are worth it to rebuild the rest are so corroded in there you may as well just get a whole new cap when you figure how much time you'll spend messing with it.Oxbow and easytopleez33 Thank this.

I agree on just changing the site glass. If you want a spare I would suggest getting the cap and all. I have had difficulties removing the torx screws as well.
SAR Thanks this.
