2004 Pete 379 with a twin turbo cat c15 ACERT. I need to get the intercooler tube shown in the picture. The parts department at our local shop says cat discontinued the part. I’ve tried 2 Pete dealerships and they also say the part is discontinued. Anyone know of a manufacturer that makes the tube I need? It goes from the second turbo to the inlet side of the intercooler. Pretty much a pipe with a 90ish degree bend

If its the tube in the middle of the picture, it looks rather generic. Measure the dimensions and see if another manufacturers would fit. If there is a special mount for a sensor or something on it then take it to a muffler shop and they can weld it on.
Just a thought...what about using a piece of exhaust?

I wouldn't think that'd be a Cat part since that same engine was easily used in dozens of different truck models. Cat just supplies the engine. OEM manufacturer has to hook it all up.

    Can't fix the pipe?

Try BH tubes in PA, if they don't have it they can probably make it. BHTUBES.COM

It’s a Pete part not a cat part. Cat makes the engine and Pete hooks everything up. I misspoke in my originally post. I meant to say Peterbilt discontinued the part.

I could use an exhaust pipe but it still needs to be the same dimensions as the intercooler pipe which I haven’t been able to find.

It’s got a hole about the size of a dime in it right on the bend. I was thinking about trying JB Weld but not sure how well it will work

Just clean it up, trim up the sharp edges and weld a patch piece over it. Probably take 45 minutes max including removing and reinstalling the pipe.

My thought was patch weld the pipe -

Or, use 2 pipes and 3 boots to get by - you’d have to be able to get your hands on some assorted pieces to try.

I can't see that part being discontinued. Maybe try again. As others said any good truck exhaust shop should be able to fab that up cheaply. Our local truck exhaust place makes up things like that all the time. Actually the local pete dealership sell them alongside oem stuff.

I’ll post the vin in the morning and if anyone’s got access to the Pete parts database you can see for yourself. I find it hard to believe our usual parts guy as well as 2 Pete dealers all said its discontinued and they were wrong.

I never thought of welding it. Maybe I’ll talk to a friend about it. Personally I’ve only ever stick welded so I wouldn’t be able to do it

The other issue is I live on an island with no exhaust shops around. So to take it out and send it away to get one fabbed up would likely take a week plus of the truck being down

Thanks for the welding tip though I may go that route

I would probably braze that with a torch. Some old hand around there can handle that!
