Hello, this is a question in the back of my mind, and was afraid of possible truth. So I am going to ask it now.

I am 52, 6'1" 175 lbs former NCAA track athlete if that matters - not!. With outstanding fitness and health coming in to trucking from another career. My career goal is LTL. I know age is just a number, and no one would guess I am 52, but insurance companies and trucking companies will know I am 52 from my DOB!

So my question is: would I have a chance getting hired eventually at a top LTL such as ODFL or Estes, etc?, etc at the rip age of 52 or 54? Be honest (especially @Chinatown, Mr. Optimistic), lol

Thanks in advance for honest feedback.

yes. You will have no problem. Where do you live? And Estes is not a top LTL company. In no particular order, XPO, FedEx Freight, ODFL, Southeastern, and ABF are top carriers.

Yes they’ll hire you. When I was in LTL one guy I know got hired week before me he’s in his 60’s. Told me he was gonna do it for a few more years and retire soon. There are drivers 65 or older in linehaul still rock’n and rolling.

I’ve seen Foodservice hire 50+ guys. Personally, I wouldnt come into Foodservice over 50 even though a lot of our senior guys still pushing a wheeler are close to 60. So I see no issue for LTL hiring you.

Of course. Age is just a number.
If you possess the skills, you have already cleared your major hurdles.
Now, get in there and raise the bar.

Y'all see what I did there?
