Has anybody had their air dump removed ? Mine (the dash switch) on my Volvo, was removed during a PM. Then the switch was re-installed at a later PM but it doesn't work. This is a very useful tool and I can't figure why they would remove it. Maybe there was a problem with them or something. But asking a Knight mechanic a question is like talking to temporary hired help in a department store.....UHHHHH hmm yea.
-
Where do you reckon Knight gets their
mechanics from?
JesT KeedinG.
I know the feelin' though.
Believe me, it ain't exclusive to Knight.

Yea there alright dudes (and a girl in Charlotte) compared to another company I worked at, where there was a sincere hatred of the driver. Plus they work banker hours so that has to help the morale. Come 5 oclock there isn't anything but spinning chairs and a few leftover rags on the floor as they peel out of the parking lot.
I just want my air dump back. You can level the truck when sleeping on an incline but really what they are intended for is dropping trailers. You drop them low so the next guy, sometimes it's yourself again, can get under it lifting the legs off the ground instead of fighting a twisted landing gear. But in the meantime I'll just enjoy my brand new drive tires, very nice when picking up loaded trailers that have been dropped by another Knight truck with worn tires. -
Knight Transportation is top notch...if you get a job with them, try your best to keep it...They use to have a 7 on 7 off program....how excellent is that...I wish I had stayed with them....

GhostChild, Please tell us more and explain
AfterShock Thanks this. -
Knight got in big trouble for that by Volvo. If Knight won't fix it, threaten to take it to Volvo because Volvo calls the dump valve a "safety issue"
Which is why they are getting put back in if they got taken out. -
You can always come back, they are firing and hiring 24/7/365

If that's the case, by golly -----
Volvo knows best.
I remember a large truckin' company that ran Cummins engines and Jake Brakes, -----
But they limited their fleet of Big trucks to 1,800 RPM. And the Jake/Cummins combination worked wayyyy better up 'round
2,100 RPM.
And was causin' problems at the reduced RPM's.
Cummins and Jake wern't real pleased with the
bad-mouthin' they were receivin' either.
Right around the same time, that truckin' company switched from International Big trucks to Freightlined Big trucks -----
With Detroit for diesel powah.
Not sure if any of that's related though.
I DO know that after experiencing a properly operational Jake Brake --- those 1,800 RPM Jakes
were a joke.

Funny you should ask (wait, for you, to be expected!), but many that I met in the main terminal in Phx were from Eastern Europe--Bosnian/Serbian, etc. Many could barely speak English!!

Also, many of the 'cheapened' Centurys that Knight bought B4 going Volvo/Pete were bought (?) missing the dump valve!
Think too many hi-hooks & reefer units damage and they rather have the driver get out and crank!!
