It's a 9 speed, not a 10 Speed.

From what I could find on google they only have 8 forward gears with a Range selector and no splitter... How is this NOT an eight speed???
Thanks, I just assume you didn't count it... You learn something new everyday...lolLook again... 5 gears in low range, 4 in high = 9.
In a 9 spd "LO" gear occupies the 10 spd's 1st/5th position and is only used in low range...if ever.

It seems to me, that your just asking for a bad day with those type's of trans... Give be a 13 or if need be a supper 10 and I will be a happy boy!Ron-MARS Trucking said: ↑Just a different trans configuration.
There were 5 X 2's ( 5 speeds with rear splitters) back in the 70's and 80's with that same type of configuration as well.
You'd shift like this:
First low, First high, Second low, Second high, Third low, Third high, Fourth low, Fifth low, Forth high, Fifth high.
If that's confusing, try a 4 X 4, or 5 X 4, or 6 X 4 trans with rear-end splitters....

Nope....when the Brownies were in use, there were real truckers on the road and "Super Truckers" weren't even born yet.....wahwah70 said: ↑It seems to me, that your just asking for a bad day with those type's of trans... split 9 and 10's and even a few 4x2's (rear splits)

wow
start with both sticks up and to the left... switsh on dash to the left...
go one two three four.... clutch and switch to right - grab second stick and go five six seven eight...
kinda freaky! -

Sorry, this was the best I could find... And , can somebody please explain the appeal of the RTO( one in red)???Click to expand... -
the RTO, the one in the red, is what the first truck i drove up to speed had. took me a few times to get it right, running on shale in kansas just as it was trying to rain...
took my test with a straight 9, also dorve a few straight tens, drove a super ten once, i rather enjoyed it since the truck was empty it was up to speed very quickly...
I used to drive an old single axle GMC around the yard that had a 4 speed and a 2 speed brownie, i enjoyed it since i was the only 14 year old around that could drive it.
im trying to talk my dad out of his US gear dual range to go between the transfer case and 4 speed in my bronco, allowing it to split gears. -
The one in red is in my 99 Western Star. Big difference in gearing from 7th to 8th.
