Ok, got some questions about specing a new truck. I'm not doing anything fancy, but my questions pertain to gearing and drive train.
I run mostly southwest, west coast stuff. Could be fairly flat or mostly mountains all day.
I rarely, I think once, run off road to get in to a receiver. Either paved or fairly flat dirt lots. Anyone run a 6x2 configuration? How do you like it?
Next for gearing. I'm considering a 3.08 or lower gear with a 13 sp., whether manual or automated (I spend a lot of time in traffic), still
deciding. Don't think I'll ever see a need for an 18, so it's not even a consideration.
Doing some research, I'm reading and hearing a lot of good stuff from owners about the newer Paccar motor. I realize the earlier stuff was not much better the the Maxxjunk, but it seems they're doing well now.

I run a 6 by 2 it's got its moments but my third axle is liftable can help you out of a bind definitely helps you with fuel economy.
As far as gears many factors to consider how fast you want to go. Weight hauling size of tires don't know about the paccar.eng
I currently have 264 on low pro 22 and 10 direct to do over probably a 13 single overdrive

Guess I shot out too early to be part of the cool kids club haha. I picked up in Winston Salem going back to Indiana. But I'm reloading to go back to Greenville NC for Monday if you guys are still going to be around.

Hell, I came up through the area as well, albeit on 95, but I was coming out of Orlando heading up to Jersey with an OD load. Only Mercer I had seen before Ruther Glen was sitting empty in St George on Tuesday. I'm in Bordentown now though
