You know, I talked about people parking in the fuel island the other day. I actually did that last night. It was at the kangaroo Express in Wytheville, VA. I got some fuel and the lady was like, " since it's not busy, I don't see the problem. I parked there for about 4 hrs and woke up to see if aomeone had left. Then I parked in a proper spot. Sometimes parking isn't always ideal, but you have to be prepared to move if necessary

Parking a problem that will get worse as trucks just shut down when ELD tells them too. No matter if they find a legitimate parking spot or not. I woke up a couple times to get a early start and was completely blocked in. The truck stops do not appear to be doing much about it unless its a official no parking zone. Some have begun to add to areas of absolutely no parking or be towed. One reason I decided to stick with local work is not having to deal with parking every night.

I have a standard 'apology' sign I put in my window: SORRY IF I'M IN YOUR WAY - JUST KNOCK AND I'LL MOVE.

My cheap-azs company will no longer reimburse for parking and my self respect forbids me to pay out of pocket.

Nobody gets towed; we all know the signs are empty threats.

Here on the west coast along the I-5 the truck stops and rest areas fill up quickly around sunset, especially in the spring and summer. I tend to start my days around 4:am and shut down around 3:pm so I can get good places to park. By the time it gets dark there are already drivers double parking on the ends of isles and blocking people in. Certain areas like the Bay area around San Francisco have no truck stops at all. So you park on the outskirts and drive in early, or street park in an industrial area if you can find one.
