I have a question for the open deck Mercer guys. With a step or a flat, what would be a profitable triangle to set up if you were based in Effingham, Illinois?

 

Flat imo unless you buy ramps and 10 ft tarps. If you have ramps and is willing to tarp oversize loads you can make money with a step. I see a lot of steps at mercer with no ramps and don't like pulling oversize

 

Thanks Pete. I’ll keep that in mind. I’m mostly interested in what you guys think would be a good triangle to set up from Effingham, Illinois based on Mercer’s typical freight.

 

In that area you will do fine with either. But I'd go flat
