If there is no load, they bobtail to Detroit for home time.
If there are no empty trailers or loads coming out of Detroit, they bobtail to Chicago.
Sometimes they pick up an empty in Toledo or en route to Chicago.
Not only that, but they are paid for miles to and from the house with or without a load or a trailer.
#FACTS!
Best dedicated-regional megas for generous bobtailing home policy

Get your doubles and hazmat endorsements and try to get on with XPO. Last time I was out that way, one of their yards was advertising 29.75 per hour starting pay. That’s 29.75 per hour for the first 40 hours and then 44.62 per hour for the duration of the week. You’ll run your 14 every day I am sure and if you’re not home daily I’m pretty sure it will be every 2-3 days. That’s amazing starting pay.
truadvocate Thanks this. -
You've not driven for them.
Take care. -

If JB Hunt hires out of your home area and they have no freight going or coming from there that you may run enroute to or coming out of hometime, you will bobtail or deadhead just like they do the Detroit drivers and any others dispatched from the Chicago terminal.
On a load or off a load coming or going from hometime, those are paid miles to and from your house.
Check to see if they hire out of your area.
Intermodal rarely sits and it is no touch freight. -
Werner will let you take the truck on home time but it generally is attached to an empty trailer. As far as dedicated accounts, most require you to leave the equipment at the dedicated DC. If not then the most you’ll probably get is 50 miles and it won’t be dispatched.
Where is it that you live? @Chinatown may have recommendations.
