I have a freightliner fld with 440k miles. C12 engine. Oil pressure about 35 PSI running on highway.
My question is, is adding a bypass filter worth the expense at this point or not really?

Do you sample oil now, and if so - how do the samples look?

Not uncommon for c12’s to go well past a million miles ... oil bypasses do pay for themselves it’s more of a question on how long you plan to keep it.. if only keeping truck a short time I’d say no

I love this truck because it is in good condition, has no emissions and is a very strong truck. Also because it leaks engine oil a bit, it does not rust at all due to oil spreading around. It has no rust on the frame. So I plan on keeping it forever. Hard to find a good no-emission truck nowadays.

FLDs were the best truck Freightliner ever made.

I’ve been looking at the old FLD Classic for purchase in the future. Seems to be every bit the truck a Pete 379/389 is for less of an entry price overall.
I admit it’s a daunting task to consider a pre-emission truck over something like your run of the mill Cascadia. But I suspect these FLDs are still rolling around for good reason, and that nobody is going broke on them.
