I never understand why folks are so worried about how fast the trucks go. By the time you factor in fueling, loading, off loading, traffic, etc, we all end pretty close to the same speed. If people are efficient, then the speed doesn't matter. That being said, the first replier made McElroy sound like a million bucks. Drove by their terminal not long ago. They have nice trucks.

Slow trucks in the fast lane when it's rush hour hold up traffic. Not slow trucks in slow lane. My buddy starts oreintation at Montgomery Transport in Birmingham. He left P & S. He left P&S for some minor reason in my opinion. They paid him well (percentage), it wasn't forced dispatch, and he was home almost every weekend. I don't know why anyone would leave that. I used to work for Builders Transportation in Memphis. I loved it there. Money was good and I was home every weekend. If only I hadn't screwed up there......lol

It's getting harder and harder to find a company that has any decent number of trucks that doesn't have all the electronic crap on them. Two months ago I went from driving an ungoverned Pete with absolutely no extra electronic stuff on it to a Freightliner governed at 65, lane buzzer to keep me awake in construction zones, and a radar that randomly slams on the brakes every couple three days just to fill in the gaps the lane buzzer leaves open. Everyone but Prime and Raider Express passes me.

On the other hand, I doubled my pay, so every time I think about the annoyances, I remember the check from Friday and chill out again.

Thats a nice change, everyone else wants a sucky company that rarely pays and gets it wrong when they do and gives you an old truck. Have you first tried to find out who hires in your area ?
