I just graduated from CDL School and have been looking for a place to start. I called US Xpress and was told that since I was terminated from my last job that they would not consider me at this time. My last job was sales and had nothing to do with trucking. Is this something that is standard with just starting out? I am also looking at USA Truck and Werner. Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated

Dont use the word TEMINATED on you application put in something like didnt meet sales quota when they see the word Terminated it raises a red flag seeing didnt meet sales quota they pass it right on by

I went to work for a trucking co. 4 years ago and on my app. i put that i had 3 ticket on my record, my training guy thorw it up and told me to fill out a new one and put nothing on it, that he would deal with it later if it came up. That tells u how bad they were needing drivers, that most of them don't give a s*** whats on your app. until something happen and THEY fire YOU for lying on your app. You got too watch out for the bigger trucking co. Find a smaller co. that will take care of you......

Don't put TERMINATED on your app. Just put under reason for leaving: low sales.
Some sales jobs don't really even terminate you, they just expect you to make cold calls untill you get tired of beating the ground for no pay. And $7.50 in two weeks isn't much of a pay check anyway.
So I avoid 90% of sales jobs in the paper. -
As far as legality to my knowledge, a company may (unless they are DACheads) respond ONLY with Employment dates (hire/departure). This has at least been my experience and that of several LEO's I've spoke with.
