Hey guys so I wanted to hear to first hand recent experience with maverick glass out of Laurinburg, NC. And yes I did search but there doesn’t seem to be much info about them besides the cdl training and stuff.Anyways I already have my cdl and enjoy the company I’m with, but I’d like to move on from pulling dry van plus we don’t do all 48 states. Basically I’m wondering if hauling glass otr with maverick is actually going to get me all around 48 states or does their glass division run a lot of the same lanes? and also if I can reasonably gross $1400+ weekly with them? I live about an hour from their Laurinburg and it seems like it’ll be a great fit for me, but my main goals are to make more money and travel more. Thanks fellas

You'll make a lot of money with Maverick, and travel all 48 with them. They'll want to send you into Canada too in their glass division. Their recruiters are generally honest, so I would give them a call.

you will drive over broken glass at the plant. thats what the road is made of.

That’s what I like to hear! Honestly the biggest disappointment with my current company is constantly running the same lanes. They did great training me and have treated me well, but the biggest reason I got into trucking was to travel so I’m ready to see new areas. Thanks for the info
And that’s alright I go to Owens Brockway, who makes glass bottles, a lot with my current company so I know what that’s like lolNeed4Speed Thanks this. -
Check out Neil Shane Otts on YouTube. He recently did an almost hour long interview of a Maverick glass driver. I did not watch it because it is so long but might be worth checking out.

If you sign on with Maverick, be wary of trainer Scotty at the Little Rock terminal (he also does training in Laurinburg). He's worried about his own ego and being a "big man." He's not worried about proper training and helping you learn.

The one thing you need to be ready for with the Maverick glass division is that they do some non-glass freight when necessary, which means you have to assemble and disassemble the A-frame racks on their flatbeds from time to time.

I’ll actually be looking forward to doing a little work lol bumping docks and sitting in that drivers seat all the time makes me feel real lazy. I enjoy the job, but it’s also the “laziest” job I’ve ever had in the sense of physical labor

I started hauling glass(for a competitor of Maverick) after 23 years pulling a box trailer OTR...best decision I ever made. Maverick's way of hauling glass involves a little more tarp work because their flats that have the removable A-frames also have removable tarps, so even when you aren't dropping the frames, you still have to pull and fold the tarps like a regular flatbed load, but, If you're looking to get physical, then hauling glass is a good choice. I have no regrets.Truckermania, Lepton1 and Need4Speed Thank this.

I frequently run past the glass plant just north of Wichita Falls, TX. Maverick does a lot of loads out of there. I noticed that there are quite a few curtain side drop decks starting to populate the yard. That would make it easier to finish out the load, but limits you to legal width loads when you aren't hauling glass.x1Heavy Thanks this.
