I’d probably just leave very early and run up 5 to 152 to 101

I'm like you too... in regard to go get there and get the next load and keep moving.... till the next load... and the next... and the next... :biggrin_2559: Since I "don't have a life"... so speaking... I have no home to worry about and nobody waiting at home or anywhere... I have nothing else to do other than pick up loads and deliver loads...
Also, I don't hang out with anybody anywhere.... much less with guys in truck stops...:biggrin_2552: lots of lonely guys out here... married and not married... some I can't even smile at them... they may think I am flirting with them... :biggrin_2552: It would be nice if there were some lady truckers out here... I might try to be a little more social... But when I see them, they are either with their beloved husbands, boy friends, whatever or they are in a hurry and don't even say "hi"...
So... I keep my "low profile" here..... like you said, there's the safety issue also... being a solo female on the road, driving a big truck and going to places that sometimes are not the safest ones....

I had to go to online dictionary to understand a few words you used here... "stud muffins".... :biggrin_2559: and "sleep leapers"... yeah.. like "lot lizards", right...?
You know, when I started trucking, I was much more "timid" walking in truck stop parking lots... thinking that any one would think I was a lot lizard... :biggrin_1square1: Heck, a female friend of mine, trucking for 20 yrs told me that years ago she could be wearing an overall and some guys would still approach her on parking lots as if she were a lot lizard... :angry1:
Nowadays, I feel more "comfortable" even though some guys still flash their lights or play their horns for me at night... it's annoying and I ignore... sometimes I curse them in a low voice...:angry1: but I still close my curtains after I park so I have privacy in the truck.... not sure I would do the same if I were a male...

The "third wheel syndrome"... I had never heard that term before... so I looked up online... Didn't quite understand... so I am not sure I have ever experienced that...
I know that married men will not approach me unless they are in some unhappy marriage... so I avoid that... And I don't try to have friendship with a married male unless I also know his wife and have friendship with her too... but I know no couple like that right now...
I realize that most men find it impossible to have just a friendship with a female.... they either want sex, romance, relationship or nothing at all... And since I am not interested in any of that... no friendship with a male for me...

Getting to the 101 is a nicer drive. Bridge construction in Carpinteria...can slow you down some. Plus on the 101 you get to avoid the grapevine.

Sounds like the state roads CA91, 71 and 57 might be worse than I-5... :biggrin_25523:
Well.. I guess will check the traffic on Google maps when I leave the receiver and toss a coin...

    MagnumaMoose and chopper103in Thank this.

Third wheel syndrome is when you have guy friends that are married and you're friends with their wivesd too, that makes you a third wheel.
Lot lizards, horizontal engineers, there are many names for them I have had security give me a hard time a few times until I almost ran over him (Mesquite TX)
Trucking is a profession that only a loner or someone happy with their own company can do. I sold my house on more than one occasion only to buy another once since I HATE hotels. I've had this house 25+ years and it's paid for so I won't be buying another one. Personally I can go days without speaking to people. Now having said that, I do curse at the copier when it's slow, fuss at Bratty my one remaining cat. I quell the urge to shoot my TV when there are bears in clothes talking about bathroom tissue. I do sometimes find myself talking to inanimate objects about their poor performance which some would find strange.
I've never had a friendship work with another female since I don't understand the need to wear makeup and shopping bores me unless it's for tools and other logical things. I like talking about trucks, roads and other things. Another words I have no life but trucking ROFLMBO
