if your talking about the cab extension wings, I don't think a flat would get enough benefit to pay for them. like the hub cap things with the piece between and behind the duals, I calculated that it would take 3 years in fuel savings to pay for them

No these are air tabs you glue them to the side of the truck. The cost is $200 and 1 hour of ur time to put them on. Everything and read and what people say they help with handling in the wind and with a Flatbed its a small gain but not really a noticeable one.

Without real wind tunnel results there is no way to tell if they work. I won't buy a product from a company that doesn't have enough faith in their product to have it tested by real engineers. Yes its expensive to have them tested. But if the results showed they worked then every truck manufacturer would buy them and every large fleet would install them on trucks already purchased.

All the anecdotal evidence by truck drivers that purchased them is just that, anecdotal evidence. Its a placebo effect, you convince someone that something is worth spending money on and the buyer is going to be convinced they work. He installs them and all of a sudden he starts paying more attention to how he is driving and gets a mileage gain. The mileage gain was because he paid more attention while he was accelerating and shifting, not because of whatever magic product he installed on his truck. Thousands of guys swore the turbo 3000d increased their mileage, but no mechanical engineer thinks the turbo 3000d can increase fuel economy.

Freightliner has done everything they can to improve the drag and increase fuel mileage on the Evolution. Believe me, if airtabs worked, they would have them stamped into the fairings at practically zero cost to them.

    RERM and whoopNride Thank this.

What's up with all flatbed step decks and double drops stop on the side of the road I understand that you have to check securemen.t And tarps but one mile form truck stop, rest area, off ramp beside the road is dangerous just my opinion as door slammer

whoopNride and Highway Sailor Thank this.

I've stopped a half mile from a exit before when my strap got cut and was blowing in the wind. Stopping or turning could of caused the load to shift or fall over. Sometimes you don't really have a choice lol

You wont see me on the side of the interstate messing with my load. I'd put my flashers on and go slow on the shoulder to get me to the next ramp or whatever before I start messing with the load.

I do several loads checks throughout the trip to make sure everything is in order.

    I agree it's very dangerous.

What gets me when.it appears to be someone messing with a tarp that's blowing, like really? That can wait till the next exit, certainly not gonna risk my life for a bungee or two that broke off the tarp...
