What is the best order in which to take to obtain your hazmat

You can do the hazmat in any order, or at any time. If you'd rather wait a couple weeks to do the background check, then wait. I did, and I got approval back before I passed my cdl test to get my permanent lic. Even if you wait too long, the hazmat exam is only a small fee, and a short chapter in the book Some ppl don't even want to carry hazmat, but it's good to have it because some silly load you carry might have paint in it or something, which might require a hazmat endorsement.

 

So you were finger printed before?

 

No, I wasn't printed until a couple weeks after I took the tests for my clp and endorsements. I took all the tests at the same time and later scheduled my printing.

 

Yea I took and passed the hazmat test when I applied for my Michigan CDL.

I thought my TWIC card would be good enough for a background check


Nope. People at the DMV never heard or seen one

So I need the background check than they will apply the endorsement
