Anyone have an Esbar bunk heater?

Sounds like the computer is cutting off the power to the heater (and probably other auxiliary circuits) because the heater drains the batteries to a point that is considered minimal in order to start truck... Weak batteries is one of several reasons this can happen. Do 12 volt outlets, CB radio, internal lights amd other auxiliary electronics also quit working about the same time??

yes turn it on high and fall alseep. 3 hours later and you will be butt naked standing in the cold snow

 

It needs serviced. At least once a year they need opened up and a new glow plug installed and the flame screen cleaned. You can try running it wide open for 10-15 min if it'll stay running, sometimes that will clear it out enough to run for a week, but it needs a yearly DNC (dusting -n- cleaning)

 

They also work best below 45f. They don't like Turing on and off completely. When it's 45 or colder it can run on low heat but keep going all night long as it get colder it will turn up the fan and heat as needed.

 

Some controllers heat it up the first time. Then it rests, measuring the temperature drop over a period of time. Then it will restart and run at a speed that will maintain the set temperature.
Also it could be that the controller is either too close to an outside wall, or too close to the output of the heater.
If yours only has the rotary dial , the actual temperature sensor is down in the intake of the heater.
