Hey guys I'm new to the fourm and to trucking been driving about 3 months in reefer. With that said was wondering if anyone has ran into this.
I've done probably 5 lumper loads. Where the company pays for it I send it in over the qualcom and the company pays it. My problem is I was just duped I'm at a shipper in Washington and the first guy (shipping said no lumper) then some other guy came knocking on my door saying $379 for a lumper gave me his info. (Not unheard of hashhappen twice ) as he through and was rejexrej as bad tax ID. Ask the guy again gives his Ssn I call and resubmit. Gets approved and I start filling out the comchrck and he's like no cash only. I'm like let me call. He walks away and I can't find him . Now I ask the shipper and he's like we dont have any lumpers here??? So was this another driver ####ing with me as a newbie Swift driver. Or some rouge employees trying to get a free kickback? Has anyone had this happen? I'm a little nervous to call my company and be like um yeah NVM on that lumper. But I have a feeling it's gonna come out of my paycheck anyways .
Thanks for the input guys and gals.

How will it come out of your check if he walked away before you gave him money?
The shipper, or one of the shippers employees, is probably in on the scam.Last edited: Oct 21, 2018
Tb0n3 Thanks this. -
If nobody cashes the comcheck, it never happened. But call anyhow.
Tb0n3 Thanks this. -
If you sent a micro for an Express code, that amount will be deducted if you don't turn in a receipt for reimbursement.
-
Call your company and explain exactly what happened. Otherwise, like Mullet Head 87 said, you may see that amount deducted from your pay.
-
You better call that one in. EXPLAIN CAREFULLY WHO SAID WHAT WHEN AND HOW MUCH ETC.
Then start looking for a way to get out of reefer work. Lumping is the number one source of financial and time based income losses as far as I am concerned.
300 dollars plus to do a trailer. Come on now. In my time around 2000 early they maxed out at 70 and did not pay more. what a racket. Maybe I set up my own portable lUmping company LLC or something and have the trucking company pay my lumping company only 250 to do the load. -
There is a charge for using trukersreport.Give me your Acct#,and it will be automatically deducted.
diesel drinker, Midnightrider909 and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
A lot of new drivers fall for this. They will also fall for the “Hey your stuff is out, pull up, park and come get your paperwork” scam.
Next time, make sure you know who you’re communicating with. -
I’m so glad I don’t do reefer.
Fuelinmyveins Thanks this. -
As a company driver, no money comes out of your own pocket on a load. Ever.
When the guy said cash only, that was your first clue something is wrong.
Next time you find a scam like that, notify the shipper, dispatch, and local law enforcement.
