I have no intention of going with them, just commenting on the state of hiring at the moment.
I don't know that I'm all that interested in flatbed, but work is work. If I am forced to jump before things pick up, I will take what I can get. I knew the "W" would get a reaction out of you, that is the only reason I put it in there. Notice I still didn't spell it.
I am quite prepared to pay for my school, taking the "indentured servant" problem out of the mix. I plan on applying to Crete, but I am trying to wait for freight to pick up. I'm also waiting to see what shows on my DAC. I have some "indiscretions" from > 25 years ago that "should" be listed as misdemeanors. Some companies say no felonies "ever", others just care about the last 5 or 10 years. Regardless, once I know what it shows, I don't need to worry about what to put on the app.

Does not doing a video mean you have a perfect face for radio? (Look who's talking, like I'm a eligible to win a beauty contest - my face has been described as "he looks like he was shot out of a cannon and cleared the whole 'ugly forest'")
And my 151K miles wasn't by choice, unfortunately... (With my luck - If I inherited a $1b gold mine, 2 minutes after I signed the title into my name, the thing would blow up and cost me $2b in EPA fines and cleanup costs)
I also heard KLLM is doing the same thing with experienced drivers, only putting on students. I had considered working there back in my 'bad boy' days before I was 'straightened out' by the attitude re-adjustment meeting with management.
And for the 'W' instead of Wiener(Werner).?. I did see you use that word a loooooong while back, when I was re-reading the 180 or so pages trying to find where to send you that scouting report. So wash out your mouth with soap for saying that dirty word...
I was correct in my assumption of the BJ's whsl D/C in Burlington, NJ. Got there early, to try to beat traffic. Got a door within minutes, and was empty only shortly after my appt. time. I like the way their system works with the beeper and they just beep you with your door number. After I got empty, I had expected, since it was Jersey, to get the 'short freight' message, but before I could get all the way out of the parking lot, a load out of Elizabeth, NJ to Canton, OH. Holy guacamole Batman!! 2100+ miles, in one week???? What gives! Unfortunately, an urgent legal matter has arisen at home and I must now bail in the middle of a possible freight increase period.... and rush home...#### the luck.Last edited: Feb 26, 2009

Hey, honestly, that was said behind your back and I never expected it to get back to you, try not to take it personal
But there has been a miss quote, the original specifically referred to your face being firmly slammed into an ugly tree.

ET, I do GOAL too even though I drive a car. I thank you for doing these wonderful replies and updates. Finally, thanks for preaching many good tips we all can use.
KHevertruckerr Thanks this. -
Ok, where are the people with the 3,000-mile weeks? I need to find out the secret.
Seems that each time I think I might see a 2,500+ week I end up with a 5-hour lumper unload and endless sitting waiting for the next load.
It's getting really bad: I have had three 34-hour resets in 8-days; I drove a whole 19-miles yesterday and only 26 today; I am 1,200-miles from home and a week overdue on hometime (hopefully my 850-mile load tomorrow will get me close enough to deadhead to the house.
Anyone see an end to all this? -
Get on the General Mills account if you can. I hear there's over 300 drivers on the list though. Where you live makes a big difference in how far up they put you on the list. The Tampa/St. Petersburg area is not a good place for the account

For the pay period ending 2/20, I turned in 2952 miles (my personal driving habits are a little less...intense...than Evertruckerr's). I didn't get to scan the paperwork for the load from Roanoke, TX to Los Lunas, NM that I delivered Friday afternoon until Saturday, or it would have been about 3590 miles. But, that pay week included the paperwork I scanned on the Saturday that started the week for a load I delivered the previous Friday, from Knoxville, TN to Vineland, NJ...so it kind of evens out.
I was coming close to my 70 every day that week, or I could have knocked things out a bit earlier and maybe gotten a few more miles in for the week. A big part of what ate up my time was that the "suggested route" from Vineland, NJ to Galesburg, IL takes US-322 across the Barry Bridge and all the way to PA-100, to US-30 into Lancaster, PA before you catch a good highway (PA-283) to Harrisburg, which is a slow drive in daytime. But hey, at least they volunteered to pay the toll from Harrisburg to New Stanton!NukedNative Thanks this. -
It's not much fun right now. I've done the multiple reset thing of late too. And I had 15 miles on Wen., but then I had 1200 for Mon and Tue and Picked up 540 today, so I'm counting my blessings.
All you have to do is read the thread on the other companies. There are others doing far worse. -

Picture the set of HEE HAW with the men laying around on the hay pile and singing, "If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all. Gloom, dispair, and agony on me."
Maybe we should just call you Eore?
Seriously, I too will say a prayer for you, and wish you the best. -
I got 2922 miles this week. I will have 1800 when I deliver tomorrow night in Woodland,PA. As an o/o I have until midnight Tuesdays to turn in my trips, so if I can get a decent load out of PA, I should have another good week.
